Background to my blog

Even though the element of war is dreadful and dismal, I feel everyone is influenced and involved in it; you don't have to be a super-smart politician or an aspiring journalist to be able to speak about it; it impacts everyone in different ways. It's also something I'm very passionate about because, despite being born and raised in the UK, I'm ethnically Pakistani, and as you may know, Pakistan has had its fair share of political upheaval. My father would frequently turn on the news to hear about the latest refugees arriving from Afghanistan or another missile deploying in rural Pakistan. I guess I have always been fascinated by the element of war and the reality that so much damage and violence is generated just because various governments or organizations cannot agree on a solution. That is why I believe the topic of war is so important to me. I decided to make it more appealing to all audiences by focusing on a single world war. I believe it brings the aspect of war much closer to home. It is difficult to imagine the United Kingdom going to war with just one other country, but I believe we can all imagine another world war in which Britain is an ally to another country.

My Audience

As I previously stated, I believe that my target audience is everyone, as I believe that the war affects everyone, but if I were to be more specific, I believe that my target audience would be people who do not know too much about the political climate and people who would like to be able to learn more. I recall in my pitch to my class referring to the information on my blog as something that can help them in the discussion, and I still believe that to be true. If I were to create a profile of my target audience, it would be any gender between the ages of 12 and up that was searching for a bit more understanding.

My Research

I primarily chose to use the internet to assist me with my research because my topic is constantly changing and new information is constantly emerging. I reasoned that using trusted sources on the internet would be more beneficial than using books or journals, even though I believe that these materials can help when learning or looking for basic facts and knowledge.

News websites and other war blogs helped me a lot when gathering data and more factual information. I believe that different news sites also give you different opinions, so I made sure to use multiple sites when trying to discover more material, which I believe helped me form a much more impartial and well-rounded piece of writing. I also find journalism and news to be very interesting, and they are a passion of mine outside of the blog; I was able to work on this interest while researching, which helped me to stay motivated while writing this blog; I also chose to structure my blog in the same way that a news article is laid out since I believe that laying out my writing and blog in a more professional manner, similar to what a journalist would write for a news site, will help make it appear much more reliable.

I also used YouTube and documentaries to do my research, which helped me a lot, especially when I was writing my blog posts about water shortages and nuclear weapons. I believe it helps you to see the information more visually, and I found that I understood the information and material much better as a result. In the future, I would like to create more videos that help my viewers understand the information better.
