I started working on this blog a few months ago, and I can fairly say that I have spent a lot of time nurturing and building a site that I am happy with. This blog post will be a reflection of my work thus far, as well as some insights into the blog's mission.
To begin, I believe that one of the most difficult tasks was choosing a topic. Because the range of topics to choose from was so broad, I decided that it would be best if I chose a topic that I could be interested in for a long time, as well as something that is constantly making advances and that almost everyone can contribute to.
In terms of substance, I wanted to provide and offer my readers with information that was not too difficult to comprehend; I wanted it to be easy yet informative. I believe that all of the blog pieces I've written are intended to present the reader with discussion starters as well as a method to broaden your understanding of what causes world war. Something I've learned while writing and researching these blog entries is that wars occur in so many different shapes and may develop from so many different places and that it's not always black and white.
I discovered that I enjoyed writing about more specific aspects of a world war, such as what it would be like to be nuked or the potential for cyber attacks. I believe that these topics were good stimuli, and I would frequently find myself researching for hours on one given topic because I found it that interesting. I also discovered that it did not feel as depressing as writing about current humanitarian crises and having to face those types of facts on a regular basis I feel that this balance helped to keep the vibe of my blog posts in check.
Even though the coincidence of the invasion of Ukraine happening exactly when I began to create this blog is crazy, and it definitely did give me an example, I believe it is easier for the readers of my topic to relate to something that is happening right now, and the scale of the Russian invasion is so large and has been covered in the media so much, it is difficult to find someone who doesn't know what is going on. However, I believe that some of my own topics were overly focused on Ukraine, and at times I thought that it would have been more beneficial for my blog to use a different example or discuss a different subject.
Overall, I believe that the blog that I created is very similar to the intended blog that I discussed during the pitch; even though there were instances that I could not incorporate into my blog as of yet, I believe that this is something that I will be able to incorporate at some time in the future as I would definitely like to keep making more posts and making my blog better after the assessment.
